FAQ: Frequently Asked Questions

1. How do I open the safe for the first time? Since the batteries are not yet installed, use the Emergency Key. Remove the concealed lock cover on the panel, insert the key, turn it counter-clockwise, and rotate the handle/knob to open. Never store these keys inside the safe.

2. What is the factory default password? The initial factory password for the ET586 is typically “1234” or “159”. You should reset this to your own personal 3–8 digit code immediately after installation.

3. Will my A4 documents fit inside without folding? Yes. With an internal width of 336mm, standard A4 certificates and documents can be placed flat inside the safe.

4. What happens if the batteries run out? You have two options: use the Emergency Override Key to open the safe manually, or plug the included External Battery Box into the jack on the keypad to provide temporary power.

5. How do I set a new password? Open the safe, press the Reset Button (located on the back of the door), enter your new code (3–8 digits), and press the “#” or “*” key to confirm. The green light will flash to indicate success.

6. Is this safe waterproof as well? The ET586 is primarily a fireproof and anti-theft safe. While it offers some protection against moisture, it is not rated as a fully submersible waterproof safe.
