1. How is the E3873 different from the E3871? – The E3873 is a much more powerful machine. It punches up to 21 sheets (vs 12 on the 3871) and binds up to 450 sheets (vs 350 on the 3871). It also features an adjustable margin depth, which the 3871 lacks.

2. Can I use this for binding A3 documents? – It is optimized for A4 size (21 holes). You can bind A3 documents in landscape orientation (along the short edge), but it is not wide enough to bind A3 along the long edge.

3. What happens if I punch more than 21 sheets? – Exceeding the limit can strain the internal steel pins and may lead to a paper jam. To keep the blades sharp, we recommend sticking to 15–18 sheets for the smoothest experience.

4. Why do I need an adjustable margin? – For very thick books (300+ pages), you need the holes to be further from the edge (6.5mm) so the pages don’t tear out. For thin reports, a shallow margin (2.5mm) looks neater.

5. Does it require special maintenance? – No, just empty the waste tray regularly. Every few months, you can punch a piece of wax paper to lubricate the punching pins for a smoother cut.
